Appena uscito di prigione e ancora alla ricerca dell’amata Beniamina, l’archeologo inglese Arthur si ricongiunge con la sua banda di complici, un’allegra combriccola di tombaroli itineranti che sopravvive saccheggiando tombe etrusche e vendendo gli antichi tesori che dissotterra. Ad Arthur, però, non interessano i manufatti, ma una leggendaria porta sul mondo sotterraneo che lo potrebbe condurre a Beniamina.

Just out of jail and still searching for his late beloved Beniamina, crumpled English archaeologist Arthur reconnects with his wayward crew of tombaroli accomplices – a happy-go-lucky collective of itinerant grave-robbers who survive by looting Etruscan tombs and fencing the ancient treasures they dig up. Arthur isn’t interested in the artefacts, though; he’s seeking a legendary door to the underworld, and to Beniamina.

Alice Rohrwacher (Fiesole, 1981) Esordisce al cinema con il film del 2011 Corpo Celeste, presentato nella Quinzaine des Réalisateurs del Festival di Cannes 2011. Tre anni dopo vince il Gran Prix Speciale della Giuria al festival francese con Le Meraviglie. Il suo terzo film, Lazzaro Felice, le vale il successo internazionale, con la vittoria del premio per la miglior sceneggiatura al Festival di Cannes. Nel 2023 il suo cortometraggio Le Pupille viene nominato agli Oscar. È sorella dell’attrice Alba Rohrwacher, con cui collabora frequentemente.

Alice Rohrwacher (Fiesole, 1981) She made her film debut with Heavenly Body, presented in the Directors’ Fortnight at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. Three years later he won the Special Grand Prix of the Jury at the French festival with Le Meraviglie. Her third film, Happy as Lazzaro, earned her international success, winning the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2023, her short film The Pupils was nominated for an Oscar. She is the sister of actress Alba Rohrwacher, with whom she frequently collaborates.
