“Camorra” è un documentario storico, costruisce una narrazione diversa dal solito che va ben oltre il sangue e la violenza cui siamo sempre più anestetizzati; l’obiettivo che più di tutti si prefigge il film è quello di una ricerca di senso che renda leggibile la camorra. Perché, forse, solo attraverso una profonda comprensione è possibile sperare in un cambiamento.

“Camorra” is a historical documentary, constructing a different narrative than usual that goes far beyond the blood and violence to which we are increasingly anaesthetised; the film’s main aim is a search for meaning that makes camorra legible. Because, perhaps, only through a profound understanding it is possible to hope for a change.

Francesco Patierno (Napoli 1964) è un regista e sceneggiatore italiano. Il suo primo lungometraggio, Pater Familias, è stato presentato in concorso al Festival di Berlino nel 2003. Negli anni ha lavorato sia in televisione che al cinema. Nel 2012 La guerra dei vulcani è stato presentata a festival tra cui Venezia, Toronto, Londra e New York. Nel 2017, Napoli ’44 era in concorso al Festival del cinema di Roma, e l’altro suo film Diva!, con otto delle migliori attori femminili italiane, è stato selezionato ufficialmente per il Festival del cinema di Venezia e ha vinto il Nastro d’Argento per il miglior film documentario. Camorra, il suo ultimo documentario, è stato presentato in anteprima al Festival del cinema di Venezia.

Francesco Patierno (Naples, 1964) is an Italian director and screenwriter. His first feature film, Pater Familias, was presented in competition at the Berlin Film Festival in 2003. Over the years he has worked in both television and film. In 2012, La Guerra dei Vulcani was screened at festivals including Venice, Toronto, London and New York. In 2017, Napoli ‘44 was in competition at the Rome Film Festival, and his other film Diva!, featuring eight of Italy’s best female actress, was officially selected for the Venice Film Festival and won the Nastro D’argento for best documentary film. Camorra, his latest documentary, was premiered at the Venice Film Festival.
