In Francia ci sono i Gardians. In Ungheria gli Csikós. In Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay e Brasile meridionale ci sono Gaucho. In Venezuela i Llanero, in Cile i Huaso, in Australia i Ringers e Stockman, in Mongolia ci sono i nomadi Wuzhumuqin. Negli Stati Uniti e in Canada ovviamente ci sono i Cowboys. Nel pianeta, ovunque si trovino degli spazi aperti al pascolo, ci sono questi cavalieri a sorvegliare il bestiame. In Italia, e solo qui, ci sono loro, i Butteri. Ad Alberese, nella Maremma toscana, sono rimasti gli ultimi tre butteri, uomini eroici che praticano ancora l’allevamento allo stato brado di bovini, esempi viventi di una possibilita di riscatto nei confronti della natura. Negli occhi di questi uomini e dei loro animali si comprende il sentimento che si ha nel vivere una vita che ha un senso, una vita a cui non rinuncerebbero mai. Due giovani entrano nel gruppo per imparare questo mestiere, duro e per pochi. Solo uno di loro ce la fara . Il futuro di questo mondo antico e nelle loro mani.

In France there are the Gardians. In Hungary the Csikòs. In Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and southern Brazil there are Gauchos. In Venezuela the Llanero, in Chile the Huaso, in Australia the Ringers and Stockman, in Mongolia the Wuzhumuqin nomads. In the United States and Canada, of course, there are the Cowboys. All over the planet, wherever there are open spaces for grazing, there are these horseman watching over the cattle. In Italy, and only here, there are the “Butteri”. In Alberese, in the Tuscan Maremma, there are the last three Butteri, heroic men who still practice cattle breeding in the wild, living examples of the possibility of redemption from nature. In the eyes of these men and their animals you can understand the feeling of living a life that has meaning, a life that they would never give up. Two young men join the group to learn this difficult job for the few. Only one of them will make it. The future of this ancient world is in their hands.
